As early as September, most Filipinos start to feel the Christmas spirit. Malls, restaurants and other businessestablishments will start thinking

on what kind of decorations they can offer to mall goers or customers.

By October and November, you can start hearing Christmas music.  As soon as December comes, many employees are excited to receive their 13th month pay and other Christmas bonuses.  You can see children caroling on the street and their neighborhood. Christmas parties are held from simple to extravagant depending on the budget.

In Cebu, the provincial capitol building changes its ambience with colorful lights.  At the façade, you can see a “Belen” (It depicts the infant Jesus Christ in the manger, surrounded by the Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, the shepherds, their flock, the Magi and some stable animals and angels.) with big greetings, “ Malipayong Pasko ug Maayong Bag ong Tuig”

(Merry Christmas and Happy New Year)

As a whole, Christmas is very important for Filipinos because as predominantly Christian country, it’s a way of celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, our Savior.  In the addition, it’s the time when family relatives gather together and have a reunion.
